Hey future firefighters, my name is Markell Williams. I am first and foremost a husband and father of two as well as a former firefighter in Arizona. I've dedicated my life to helping people. I pursued firefighting because it allowed me to do exactly that. I graduated with a Bachelors in Sociology from Sacramento State where I also participated as a student athlete for the football team (I also recently graduated with a Masters in Psychology from CCU's online program). Towards the end of my time in college, I came to the conclusion that I wanted to find a career where I could continue this team mentality. Becoming a firefighter became my goal. I started by taking an EMT course and then moved to Arizona where I participated in the Fire Cadet Program, volunteered my time at union and charity events, completed ride alongs, and networked as much as possible. It was such a blessing as well as rewarding to see all the work I put in pay off. I also participated as a fire cadet mentor for 3.5 years. I have over 13+ years of personal training and coaching experience that I currently engage in. I have had many people step into my life that helped get me to where I am today. It is because of those experiences that I have dedicated my life to giving back and bettering somebody else's life, and that's why I've developed this guide to help you reach your goals and dreams of becoming a firefighter.
